Islamabad: The Senate standing committee on information and broadcasting held a meeting at Islamabad on Monday and it recommended the government to ban the Indian channels whereas take strict actions against those cable operators who show the banned Indian channels.
According to media reports, the committee has asked the ministry of information and Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) to ban all Indian TV channels shown on cable in the country.
According to PEMRA, showing the banned channels is a serious crime and the culprits would be punished according to law, in addition, their licenses could be also cancelled
Moreover, the committee was also told that two mobile jammers have been imported to intercept the transmissions of the illegal Taliban FM channels in Swat valley.
They added that these jammers would be handed over to the security forces in Swat valley soon.
