Mingora: the troubled region of north western Pakistan, Swat valley, where the Pakistani security forces had been fighting with the insurgents for more than a year, has started getting back to normal.
The insurgency had made the life miserable in the valley that also forced the local families of Swat to migrate to other parts of the province and the government had established the camps for these internally displaced people (IDPs) where the families were suffering from the shortage of facilities too.
On the other hand, the heat of insurgency started setting ablaze the girls and boys’ schools as well as the health and education centers in the valley.
With the passage of time the cancer of insurgency started spreading towards the other parts of the country and the symptoms of these malady really astonished the Pakistani establishment.
As a matter of fact, the things were in progress behind the wall and at last yesterday when the provincial government of N.W.F.P and the banned organization, Tehrik-e-Nifaz-e-Sharia Muhammadia (TNSM) chief Maulana Sufi Muhammad and other activists signed an accord, according to that, the government will implement the Sharia (Islamic laws) in Malakand agency.
The accord of Nizam-e-Adl (Islamic Judicial system) was welcomed by the politicians, lawmakers, students and the people of the Swat valley, who had been suffering from the insurgency in the valley for more than a year.
Sufi Muhammad returned to Swat valley and he will convince his son in law, Maulana Fazalullah and his fighters, to renounce the armed struggle and lay down the guns.
The shops and markets were open in different parts of Swat valley and a promising number of students were present at the schools today and soon the girls will start going to their schools as well.
Consequently, the military operation has been suspended but the Army spokesman made it clear that they would retaliate to any aggression if there were any.
Swat valley is known as the Switzerland of Pakistan because of its lush green mountains, the blue and white waters and the ski resorts, thousands of tourists used to go there but after the military operation the tourism industry went to the rock-bottom position.
So the things are getting back to normal and the lush green valley of Swat will host the guests again in the near future.
