The Shame in Ghana politics

If you think that politics is serving one’s nation the better start revising your notes. After the fall of the NPP, some of us have had the shock to see how some ex officials are trying to loot the state to enrich themselves. It all started with the saga of the ex-gratia which is yet to end.

Then came the issue of former officials buying their official cars at ridiculously low prices. Cars that should cost more than one hundred thousand dollars were being bought at four thousand or less.

The height of it is what the ordinary man cannot imagine. The former speaker of parliament, when vacating his official residence decided to take along all the furnishings in the house: chairs, carpets, kitchen utensils, bedsheets curtains, in fact all that he could lay hands on.

The reasonable people of his party are even shocked about this; some even calling for his prosecution. But there are the shameless ones who still support and approve of this unfortunate act.

The question the ordinary people are asking is whether this kind of acts should be allowed to go on in a country faced with serious economic problems in a time when the whole world is facing economic downturns.

He has now been given a week to return the items.
