A small group of Jews confined to the Warsaw Ghetto valiantly made a last stand against National Socialism’s murderous Holocaust plans from April 19th to May 16th, 1943. Coinciding with the start of Passover which itself is about freedom and redemption from slavery, the anniversary is cause to honor and remember the fallen heroes–men, women and children.
But let us not just honor them with platitudes and poetry.
What can people today of whatever ethnic group or persuasion learn from their experience?
Their adversary was a collectivist regime. The ideas which condemned them were collectivist. Let us reject collectivism in all its forms (Communism, fascism, Fabian liberalism, socialism).
Their adversary was statism. Let us reject statism.
When some champion gun control, remember it is people who are to be controlled by restricting or prohibiting their access to weapons. Gun rights are the rights of human beings. Americans are lucky that the Second Amendment to the US Constitution recognizes their right to keep and bear arms. I say "recognize" because our right to keep and bear arms is inherent in our rights to life, liberty and property. What right to life is there without the right to self-defense? The right to keep and bear arms is the right to be free and independent of domination.
Remember the Warsaw Ghetto fighters and honor them by rejecting any measures to disarm the population leaving it to the mercy of the state and their rulers. Do not trust the rulers or the gun grabbers.
Remember the Warsaw Ghetto fighters and honor them by rejecting any measures that would profile or discriminate against ethnic, religious or economic groups. Do not the trust the rulers or the profilers.
Remember the Warsaw Ghetto fighters and honor them by rejecting any measures to elevate the state above the individual.
Remember the Warsaw Ghetto fighters and honor them by standing fast to what is right, no matter the price or the prospect of success.
Remember, honor and learn from the Warsaw Ghetto Fighters.
