The yellow and the brown, gold and green of trees provide an enchanting sight

Right in the middle State of Madhya Pradesh (India), the Satpuras rise to some 300 feet. The forests abound with stately hardwood and Sal trees. There are long stretches of grasslands. A 155 kilometers long area within these grasslands marks the Kanha National Park, formerly known as the Bangar valley reserve. It teems with wildlife, which can be seen in the open even in daytime. The best time to visit Kanha is the beginning of November when the rains are over and autumn is about to set in. The yellow and the brown, gold and green of trees provide an enchanting sight.

The forest park

The Kanha Park is the haunt of all species of animals and birds found in the state – the tiger, the panther, the chital, the blackbuck, the hog, the bison, the jackal, the blue bull, the languor and the squirrel. An unforgettable experience is a ride on elephant back through the forests to see the tiger on the bank of a stream or wading through the water, cooling itself in the summer months.
