Thirty-five people were killed and fifteen people were injured when a truck plunged into the Gorhi river in Ghongsa village of Lakhisarai district of Bihar.
The death toll may rise because ten out of fifteen injured are in critical position.
The incident took place when driver of the overloaded truck carrying more than fifty farm labors and food grain sacks lost control of the vehicle on a culvert without railings; the truck overturned and fall into the river.
According to Superintendent of Police Siddheshwar Prasad Shukla, main reason of death is not drowning in river water–people crushed beneath the truck and food grain sacks, as there is very little water in the river.
All the dead bodies were recovered and injured are sent to local government hospital at Sikandra in nearby Jamui district.
The incident took place at 9.15 pm on Saturday according to IST.
