The blockade of all transport systems that the opposition party started enforcing from 1st of January became violent on Friday, with two days left for the 10th national elections to be held today.
The alliance led by BNP on the day also announced a strike for almost 84 hours beginning from yesterday morning. The alliance is enforcing the blockade to destroy the national elections scheduled for today, the 5th of January. It enforced earlier blockade for 500 hours in 22 days for five spells started from November 26 when the schedule of polls was declared.
Violence and explosion of bombs and the burning of vehicles has become a regular scenario here in Dhaka. Three people, including a woman, sustained severe burn as they were bombed into a running bus at Paribag. The victims are bus driver Babul(41), and the passengers are Shahin Akhter(40) and Farid Mia(61). In Gulistan, three people died and three other became injured when miscreants threw a petrol bomb at a truck filled with rice early Friday. Meanwhile, the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) seized 34 petrol bombs from a slum at Agargaon this Friday morning.
Meanwhile the joint forces continued heavy law enforcement in not only Dhaka, but across the whole country as well to make situation under control.
