What a shocking revelation to hear that at least three police chiefs and scores of police officers were already killed in Tijuana as part of the drug cartel’s move to eliminate those who are against their sinister wishes. And the fight is on after Tijuana’s mayor has appointed Lawyer Alberto Capella Ibarra as the new chief of police in that bustling border city.
And it seems the police force in that city has been helpless in its fight against the operations of the drug cartel in that area. Well, there is one good suggestion for the new chief to take a close look at how Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim, a retired police general and former director of the National Bureau of Investigation in the Philippines., did to drug dealers and gambling lords in the country. This earned Mayor Lim the nickname of "Dirty Harry" when he got rid of the late Don Pepe Oyson, the known drug kingpin in the Philippines many years ago.
Perhaps, all Ibarra has to do is to visit Manila and learn something from Mr. Dirty Harry. Surely, his visit will be well spent and fruitful because what the good mayor will teach him are strategies that are effective in combatting illegal drug operations in Metro Manila. It’s public knowledge both in Manila and the international police organizations that the good mayor doesn’t wait for the drug syndicate to come to him. Instead, he goes after them. That’s why front pages of newspapers in Metro Manila would always show floating bodies of tattoed criminals in all nooks of Metro Manila.
