TIME FOR AFRICANS TO UNITE

The Pan African People’s Assembly has urged leaders and Governments to accept the Unification of one African State, when they assemble for the Ninth Ordinary Session of the Assembly of African Union, in Accra.

Currently, the proposal is on the table for African leaders and governments to elaborate on the “study of an African Union Government towards the United States of Africa”.

It was a one day conference organized under the time “African Union Government: This is the Time”. Speaker after speaker, in their statement all called on African leaders and governments to be signatory.

An International Relations expert and Political Science Lecturer, of the University of Ghana, Dr. Gamel Nasser ,said African leaders do not listen to their people but kowtow to Western countries. “Our leaders only ride on the poor masses and join hands with their international cohorts to exploit the numerous resources on the continent”.

He advised the leaders to listen to their people and be a good servants and not masters. “African has a bright future and if come together as one people, with one common goal they would improve upon their condition”.

Dr.Nasser continued that there are many sons and daughters who are intellectuals and scientists who have left the continent to Europe and America and the need to deepen our democracy so that they all come on board.

He urged African to speak with one understanding voice when dealing with the West and Europe.

The Pan African Secretary-General of Uganda, Dr. Tajudeen Abdul Raheem, whose statement was interrupted with applause and standing ovation said the people of the continent should not be passive but challenge their leaders to be more accountable.

“Is the responsibility of Africans to challenge their leaders and if the need arises change them constitutionally”.

 He said the continent cannot unit without the people themselves coming together hence the need to open all doors for Africans to become one state and not be an alien to other countries.

He took a swipe on Morocco and said if they do not want to be part of Africa, they should not be participating on continental programmes such as the Cup of Nations.

On his final statement he advised few countries to be cautious of their international treaties they signed. He said Libya; need to be talking to her people than Governments. “They should re-look at the immunity acts they sign and should also not be a deportation camp for Europeans. Ghana should lead by Dr. Kwame Nkrumah’s dream in uniting the continent”.

He said Nigerians should stop declaring themselves as leaders of Africa. “Ethiopia should stop doing the biding of US and acting like Bush of Africa”/

He asked Egypt to decide whether they are in African or Middle East.
