Directed by James Cameron, this 1997 release will mark the 100th anniversary of the tragedy that struck in 1912.
The success of 3D technology is taking the film industries around the world, by storm. The latest to join the 3D league is James Cameron’s 1997 Oscar winning film‘Titanic’. The film is set to hit the screens, this time, in 3D, on 6th April, 2012, as announced by Paramount Pictures, Twentieth Century Fox and Lightstorm Entertainment. The release date marks the 100th anniversary of the passenger line on her voyage from Southampton to New York City, on 15th April, 1912.
"There’s a whole generation that’s never seen ‘Titanic’ as it was meant to be seen, on the big screen. And this will be ‘Titanic’ as you’ve never seen it before, digitally remasteredat 4K (resolution) and painstakingly converted to 3D," Cameron said in a statement issued by the studios and distributors. "With the emotional power intact and the images more powerful than ever, this will be an epic experience for fans and newcomers alike,” added the director.
One of the most successful films of all time, Titanic starred Kate Winslet, and Leonardo DiCaprio, both nominated in the Best actress and Best Actor category, for their performances in the film. James Cameron won the Oscar for the Best Director. In total, the film went on to fetch 11 Oscars, including Best Picture.
