Former Democratic Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle has accepted President-elect Barack Obama’s offer of the position of Secretary of Health & Human Services.
Throughout his presidential campaign, Obama made it clear that one of his top priorities as President would be to improve the healthcare system in the United States. Daschle was one of Obama’s advisers during the campaign and is currently heading Obama’s health-care policy group.
Daschle served as a Senator from South Dakota from 1987 to 2005. Earlier this year, he co-wrote a book called Critical: What We Can Do About the Health-Care Crisis.
