Minister for Youth Services and Sports . R S Chib was the chief guest, while as Minister for Higher Education . Abdul Gani Malik was guest of honour on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Chib said local tourneys provide opportunity to exploit the talent of the youth. He said the conduct of such tournament was part of joint venture of Football Federation of India and Football Associations in which 164 districts of country have been identified and divided into 10 Zones. He said the selected players from the tournaments would participate at zonal level and after that at national level.
. Chib said the coalition government under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is keen to upgrade sports infrastructure in the state, adding that he Central government is also providing liberal financial assistance for the purpose. He said 3 synthetics play fields are being developed to provide added facility to the players in the state.
. Malik appreciated the initiative of Football Federation of India and Coca-cola for organization of tournament and said that this is a good gesture to promote sports culture in the state.
Later, the Minister gave way trophies among winner and runner-up teams. He also distributed individual medals to best performers.
Earlier, the Minister was introduced with the players.
Among others, Secretary, J&K State Sports Council . Kiran Wattal, members J&K Football Association, besides international footballer . Arun Malhotra and sports lovers were present on the occasion.
