Today a professor from biochemistry gave us a seminar about his research on Chinese herbs. He really does lots of work, but in my opinion, his methods used to study Chinese herbs are not right. People always use the same method as Western drugs to study Chinese herbs, extracting the herbs to pure compounds. As a medical student, who have ever studied Chinese medicine for one week and is studying in Biochemistry department, I have to say the way to understand Chinese medicine and herbs is very different from western medicine and drugs. It is more complicated and that is why it is hard to be a master of Chinese medicine and this Great subject is hard to be understood and inherited.
I am not a master of Chinese medicine, although I hope so. I wish one day there is a good way to study it and make it develop well.
