Covenant House.
As I was listening to the radio I heard about an organization that helps out the needy in certain circumstances in Hollywood. Covenant House, located at 1325 N. Western Ave Hollywood, CA 90027 provides safe housing, food, clothing, counseling, medical care and other supportive services to assist the homeless at risk youth in the community. They may be contacted at 323-461-3131. And I heard about Covenant House doing great works in the community at KOST, 103.5 FM.
Such great acts of kindness need to be recognized in order that more people are assisted and those that wish to help with their time and money can do so. At this time of the year nearing New Year’s the temperatures in the area drop to a very uncomfortable level for the most part. Angelinos simply are not accustomed to living in temperatures under 50 degrees, so it is a great blessing when such a group can bring some of the needy indoors and out of the frigid weather. Also, if some youth can find warm clothing, and a hot meal then that, too must be a blessing. Donations are being accepted at 1-866-268-3683. Note that $66 keeps a Covenant House outreach van on the street for one hour so give generously.
At the Covenant House, website I learned of some other services that are provided including; street outreach, day outreach, short term crises shelter, education and employment assistance, longer term transitional living, supportive apartments program, and health services, too.
