Traning workshop for representatives of LSO, CSO on Women rights

Women rights stressed  for  their equal contribution in development.

CHITRAL: Speakers stressed on women rights protection for come forward them in development of the country. The speakers while addressing in a one day training workshop for representatives of Local support Organizations (LSO) and community Support Organization (CSO) at Madaglasht valley some 90 KM from here the most attractive but remote and inaccessible valley of Chitral. The workshop was organized by Easy & Equitable Access to Justice Program for women of Chitral (EEAJW) funded by TROCAIRE (Ireland). Prominent Human rights activist and social worker Syed Akram Shah was chief guest on the occasion while the ceremony was presided over by Hakim Hussain President of New Ittihad Organization and general councilor. Miss Shabiha Gul recited from the Holy Quran while two students Aqila Shahid and Arifa Gul read Naat Sharif.

Hakim Hussain said that women folk of Madaglasht are deprived from their basic rights  like health and education facilities because there is no Hospital, no girls high schools, no college no black top road to the area. He said that this valley is most beautiful area having trekking valleys, potential for hydro power generation, rich forest, milky water, pastures and rich natural resources but that were not utilized properly. As a result the area remained  backward as well as its only 45 KM road taking 3 hours due to dilapidated condition and need to be black top immediately. He said women folk especially pregnant one during their delivery cases are shifting to Drosh or Chitral hospital but often they expire on their ways before reaching hospital due to bad condition of road. Project Coordinator highlighted aim and objectives of the project. He said that we have trialed more than 320 cases free of cost for women in different courts as well as arranged 20 seminars, workshops for creating awareness among the women folk.

He said that we have opened two free legal aid centers where cases of poor women are trialing free of cost. Prominent Lawyer Niaz A Niazi Advocate explored women rights in text of local law and constitution of Pakistan. He stressed upon the women folk to raise voice for their genuine rights. Syed Akram Shah prominent social worker and human rights activist, Akbar Bahadar, Gul Hassan Shah, Sawal Faqir, Sahidad and other spoke on the occasion. The speakers emphasized on giving basic rights to women folk and must to be educate them for giving them equal opportunity and employment to play role in development of the country.  The participants were given different tasks for group working who pointed out main issues and problems of women and its possible solution which were explained during their presentation. A large number of women, men, social workers, students, teachers, representatives of several non government organizations participated in the workshop.
