Tremayne Durham was sentenced to life in prison after pleading guilty to shooting Adam Duane Calbreath in the head and killing him in 2006.
The plea bargain Durham received as part of admitting to the crime is that he be allowed to eat fried chicken, pizza, ice cream and other junk food before and after his trial. The judge granted his request and Durham is now known as the "Fried Chicken Killer."
Tremayne Durham killed Adam Duane Calbreath over a dispute regarding an ice cream truck Durham had ordered from Calbreath’s company. When Durham asked Calbreath’s company to return the $18,000 he had invested in a new ice cream truck because he didn’t want the truck anymore, the company refused. Durham, a convicted rapist, then flew from his home state of New York to Oregon to try and get the money. He killed Adam Duane Calbreath and came to the home of the Rob Chambers, the owner of the ice cream truck company, demanding his $18,000. Chambers managed to delay Tremayne Durham and called police, leading to his arrest.
Tremayne Durham won’t have the option of parole until he serves 30 years behind bars.
