Trial of the Mumbai Train Bombing Commences

The thirteen on trial are accused of carrying out seven blasts that hit the busy commuter network of Mumbai. In those bombings, a total of 187 commuters were killed while over 700 others were wounded. The blasts were coordinated on the network during rush over.

According to the police, it is believed that the Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT), a militant group based in Pakistan. However, the Pakistani government has rejected those allegations.

In response, Pakistan said that India had produced no evidence of the country’s involvement in the attacks. All thirteen charged are Indian Muslim men. These men were amongst over 300 people that were initially detained by authorities.
