Jammu, April 10 (Scoop News) – The National Panthers Party today paid rich tributes to Morarji Desai ,the former Prime Minister of India on his 17th death Anniversary. The NPP Chairman, Prof. Bhim Singh described Shri Morarji Desai as a last Gandhian who upheld principles of democracy, rule of law and human values. The NPP Chairman recollected his association with Morarji bhai at different occasions and said that Gandhism came to an end with the death of Shri Morarji Bhai.
“It was Morarji Bhai who vacated his Oceana Apartment in Mumbai after the decision of a District Court against his tenancy. Shri Morarji resigned from ICS and joined Gandhiji sacrificing all his comforts and privileges to join the freedom movement. It was Morarji Bhai who did not sanction foreign exchange worth 100$ in favour of Mr. Bhim Singh as Finance-cum-Dy. Prime Minister of India in 1967. Bhim Singh left India without a single penny with pocket on motorcycle for his peace mission. Yet Prof. Bhim Singh admired Shri Morarji Desai for his unique principled stand all his life. Prof. Bhim Singh said that Sheikh Abdullah was disgraced by the Congress Party in 1977 when ousted from power. It was Morarji Bhai though Janata Party Prime Minister refused to rig election in favour of Janata Party. 1977 election was upholding only fair election in 60 years when Bhim Singh was also elected Congress MLA.”
Prof. Bhim Singh said that Morarji bhai refused to comprise his principles when RSS ground in the Janata Party wanted a major share in the cabinet. Morarji preferred quitting premiership and sitting in the back bench in Parliament to compromising with reactionary and communal powers.
Morarji left no bungalow, no memorial, no public place in his name or in the name of his family members even in Gujarat though he has been a high principled politician both in the government and in the kitchen.
Prof. Bhim Singh called on the politicians today to take a leaf from the chapter of the book on the life of Shri Morarji Desai.
