Jammu/Srinagar, March 02, (Scoop News)- Rich tributes were paid to noted Kashmiri broadcaster Vijay Saqi who breathed his last on Sunday evening after a brief illness.
Staff Members of Radio and Doordarshan paid rich tributes to noted Kashmiri broadcaster Vijay Saqi at a condolence meeting on Monday.They expressed their shock and grief over his demise at a prime age.They terming his death as a great loss to the Media fraternity and the society. They conveyed sympathies with the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul.
His death has come as a shock to his frinds all over the state and outside the state.
Various organizations and art lovers have expressed their shock and grief over his demise at a prime age. They include J&K Media Art Association, president, P N Pandita, social activist and PDP leader Nana Ji Raina, Displaced Employees Forum chief M K Tickoo and employees of Prasar Bharti, Srinagar and Jammu
Prasar Bharti Parivar also condolences the sad demise of Vijay Raina alias Vijay Saqi who breathed his last in a private hospital in Dwarika in New Delhi.They said in a statement said Saqi was working as ANE in DDK Srinagar till he was taken ill some months back.Shri Saqi worked in AIR NEWS and also Kashir channel of DG DD.Saqi was a poet in Kashmiri and an apt translator.having literary creativity in his blood.Son of legend historian and poet Moti Lal Saqi,Shri Vijay Saqi will be remembered for his excellent work ever.
Senior Journalist MK Bangroo expressed its condolences on Vijay Saqi’s demise and called Vijay as “an institution in himself”.
It may be mentioned here that Noted Kashmiri broadcaster and journalist Vijay Kumar Raina, popularly known as ‘Vijay Saqi’, died here this evening after prolonged illness. Raina, 53, is survived by wife and two sons.
He was unwell for long and was admitted in a super speciality hospital here. However, he slipped into coma on February 5 and finally breathed his last on Sunday evening.
Son of celebrated Kashmiri poet and Padam Shri awardee Moti Lal Saqi, Raina was working with Prasar Bharti and was at present posted in Doordarshan’s Srinagar unit.
He was among the few officials who kept the flag of official broadcaster flying in early 1990’s.
He used to read news in Kashmiri when majority of news readers had either resigned or fled following threats. Inheriting from his father, Raina also used to write poetry in Kashmiri and has two books to his credit.
