Tropical Storm Edouard is gaining strength in the Gulf of Mexico as it moves towards the coast of Texas and western Louisiana. Meteorologists forecast that the storm could become a hurricane, or at least maintain its tropical storm classification, when it makes landfall near Galveston and moves towards Houston on Tuesday.
Tropical Storm Edouard currently has sustained winds of 45 miles per hour and is torrential rains are expected over southern Louisiana as early as this afternoon. The storm might become a hurricane as it pushes west. Houston, Texas expects two inches of rain when Edouard passes overhead on Tuesday and Wednesday.
There is currently a tropical storm warning from the mouth of the Mississippi in Louisiana west to Port O’Connor in Texas. There is also a hurricane watch in effect between Intracoastal City, LA and Port O’Connor, TX.
