1888PressRelease – The two-day gathering covered a broad range of issues that are top-of-mind for those in the truck leasing industry.
Attendees at this year’s NationaLease Financial Officers Meeting, last month in Ft. Lauderdale, heard experts from a variety of disciplines discuss the challenges facing businesses today. To face those challenges head-on, the group shared best practices, acknowledging that adherence is essential to success.
The two-day meeting opened with Tom James, President of the Truck Renting and Leasing Association (TRALA), who reviewed upcoming changes to the International Registration Plan and explained how TRALA is engaging in other industry issues. He was followed by speakers from the insurance and finance industries discussing, respectively, insurance captives, proposed changes to lease accounting standards, and tangible property regulations. An eye-opening presentation from Robert Villanueva of the U.S. Secret Service informed the audience of the rising trends in cybercrime, including hacking and identity theft.
Attendees then heard from NationaLease executives Jane Clark, VP of Member Services, who offered updates on member programs, and Dean Vicha, President, who shared the latest developments in NationaLease’s new technology platforms. The afternoon concluded with one of the most important sessions, the Best Practices Roundtable, where members shared information on a variety of topics that impact the industry.
The second day covered the issues that most affect businesses, beginning with a glimpse of the economy, near and long-term, from Mike Skordeles, Senior Vice President with SunTrust Banks, Inc. That was followed by sessions on Employee Assistance Programs and Private Exchanges in the employer-sponsored healthcare marketplace.
Next year’s Financial Officers Meeting will be held October 19-20, 2015, at the Wigwam Hotel in Phoenix, AZ.
