A sign of the times?
Jevic Transportation, one of the nation’s foremost trucking companies, is shutting down operations as a result of rising fuel prices. The company, based in Delanco, Burlington County, posted the news on their company website this morning, saying that "current high fuel costs, economic downturn, increasing insurance costs, and tightening credit markets have made this decision necessary."
The statement came from Jevic Transportation’s CEO David Gorman. The decision was clearly sudden, as pickup orders are already disabled and after today there will be no further pickup service.
Rumors of the closure were first mentioned on message boards of The Truckers Report website.
