Homewares market leader re-platforms online store to support growing online customer base
Homeware retailer Dunelm selected Tryzens, a leading systems integrator in the retail sector, to provide a multi-channel online sales platform in order to support Dunelm’s considerable online growth.
Dunelm is the UK’s number one homewares retailer. Founded in 1979, the company has grown from a single family-run business to over 154 stores nationwide, with its website gaining increasing traffic. The company was seeking an agile and scalable eCommerce platform to support its online store’s growth in the future.
Chris Shaw, CIO of Dunelm, stated: “Between 2012-13, our online store doubled in traffic and transactions. To meet the increased demands placed on our eCommerce platform, we undertook a review of our architecture and ways of working, realising that we needed to overhaul our old system. When selecting our service provider, we wanted a true partnership with a company that could demonstrate an excellent track record in eCommerce retail. Crucially, this involved a focus on ‘Simply Value for Money’, our commitment of quality to our customers. What our customers expect from us, we expect from our partners and providers.”
Tryzens re-platformed the retailer on IBM WebSphere Commerce v7.6, integrating in-house back-end systems and third party providers through IBM Integration Bus (middleware). The platform also includes a bespoke Order Management Solution developed by Tryzens, providing Dunelm with greater ability to service its online customers’ needs efficiently. Also integrated are SAP and PIM systems.
Tryzens designed this new platform to be flexible, enabling Dunelm to improve its capability in areas ranging from additional delivery options through to the control of its front-end designs.
Chris Shaw continued: “Tryzens proved to be the best choice for an eCommerce partner. Recognising our business objectives, values and challenges, Tryzens has delivered a platform to support the continued growth of our online business.”
Tryzens provided close consultancy to support Dunelm’s re-platforming process, including planning, analysis, design, build, implementation and programme management.
Dan Fountain, eCommerce Delivery Director, Tryzens added: “We designed Dunelm’s eCommerce platform to be responsive to multiple devices, creating a seamless customer experience through an adaptive design and tailored delivery options. The new platform redefines Dunelm’s online business processes, through strong integration to key systems and support for customers across multiple channels. We’re proud to have worked with Dunelm on re-platforming their online business and we’re excited to see it live.”
