Jammu, February 25 (Scoop News) – A deputation from Turtuk in Nubra area of Ladakh region called on N. N. Vohra, Governor, at Raj Bhavan, here today and presented to him a Memorandum of their demands.
The demands presented by the 5-member deputation led by Abdul Ali, Councillor, Turtuk, LAHDC, Leh, included, interalia, opening of Turtuk-Khapulu cross-LoC road, speedy completion of Turtuk-Hanu road, creation of a rural development block and establishment of a J&K Bank Branch at Turtuk.
Other demands projected by the deputation included, upgradation of Primary Health Centre at Turtuk to the Community Health Centre level and Army, Paramilitary Forces and Police launching a special recruitment drive for the youth of the area to gain employment.
The Governor discussed with the deputationists issues about the functioning of health and educational institutions, advancement of tourism and the production and marketing of apricot in Turtuk area. He heard the deputationists patiently and assured that the demands raised by them would be taken up with the concerned authorities at the Centre and in the State Government.
The deputation comprised Haji Abdullah, Sarpanch Turtuk, Ghulam Hussain, Ghulam Mehdi and Ghulam Hyder.
Navin K. Choudhary, Principal Secretary to the Governor, was present on the occasion.
