Twitter Gets Hot over Mid Day Meal Deaths in Bihar

It became just a little bit easier in late 2004, when the Midday Meal
Scheme saw the light of day in Jharkhand. It began
with the distribution of rice to the kids; later, they were guaranteed a proper meal. the Midday Meal Scheme
budget to spend just
Rs 1.80 per student per day. It’s
been raised, this July, to Rs 3.53
per kid per day. Each child is also
allocated 20 grams of pulses and
100 grams rice per day, which
goes up to 30 grams pulse and
150 grams rice per middle school
student, from grade 6-8.
The scheme was originally
envisaged as government-run, but
community aided and supervised.
In practice, because parents and
teachers are both busy, the whole
system lacks anyone to ensure
hygiene and quality.
Over the deaths caused due to this menace twitter gets hot again .
“Dear @PMOIndia If this is
the beggining of Food
Security bill, thn Almighty
Save Gut of our Young
Generation.

Another Twitterati @Alisaspeaks wrote ” And power isn’t the only
poison. If you are
powerless and poor you get
poison in mid-day meals. ”

Pallavighosh, Of CNNIBN ( @pallavighcnnibn ) wrote on her twitter ” ” In a short while cabinet wl
take a call on food
ordinance..why it doesn’t
excite? Becoz govt can’t
even get mid day meals
right? ”

Certainly, It is a big challenge to provide quality mid-day
meals to children in 73,000 schools in Bihar.Although Headmistress has been sacked. She and her
family members are missing. Reports suggest she didn’t eat the vegetable.
Police must see how the food was poisoned. Was it a conspiracy or was it inadvertent?
