Voters in Iraq and Zimbabwe as in many other countries have a finger stained with dye to prove they voted and to prevent election fraud. In Iraq, Al Qaida and others threatened to kill those who voted. In Zimbabwe, Robert Mugabe’s ZANU-PF henchmen threatened those who intended no to vote.
Where are the protest marches in Berlin, London, New York, Paris and around the world of Mugabe’s tyranny in ZImbabwe like those that were quite rightly initiated to protest the unwise and unjust Iraq invasion?
Why is it Save Darfur as a cause attracting celebrities? Is it because Sudan is Muslim or has oil?
Is the difference because of the romanticization of the struggles for liberation in Africa and the Third World generally? Or a guilty conscience that they exchanged colonial oppression for the home-grown variety?
Meanwhile, ZImbabweans suffer.
