Jammu, October 15 (Scoop News) -Department of Tourism, Government of Rajasthan in it’s bid to further attract domestic tourists from tourism loving people state of Jammu and kashmir is organizing a two day ‘Mini Rajasthan Festival’ in the city of Temples Jammu on October
20 & 21, 2010 for the first time.
The two day “Mini Rajasthan Festival” to be held at the premises of Dogra Brahman Pratinidhi Sabha, Parade, Jammu is part of the Rajasthan Tourism’s domestic tourism promotion campaign “Rajasthan Calling” being held in 19 major cities across the country including Kotchi, Chennai, Mumbai, Bangalore, Patna, Kolkatta, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Ludhiana, Lukhnow and Chandigarh.
“The major reason for organizing “Mini Rajasthan Festival “ in Winter capital Jammu is to give a feel of Rajasthan and facilitate a better understanding about the state and provide complete information and showcase the Rajasthan traditional culture and the exquisite range of Rajasthani handicraft products and Rajasthani delicacies. The major highlight of the festival will be live dances and a food court and free application of free mehandi (henna) to visiting ladies.” Said Ms Usha Sharma, Principal Secretary and Commissioner, Department of Tourism, Rajasthan in a press statement.
“ The food court will have stalls serving famous Dal Baati Choorma, famous Rajasthan Kachori’s, mirchi pakora and traditional sweets . The traditional Rajasthan dances to be performed will include famous Chari , Gujri, and Algoja dance “ she said
“About 25 stalls depicting various culture, handicrafts , works from various regions of the state will be showcased during the festival will include Woodden Toys from Bassi Chittor, Terracota from Siaya, Stone Artefacts from Banswara nad Tichupada, Ajmer Ka Gota work,
Aratari Zardozi work from Nyla village, Leather items – Bags, Jutis etc from Jodhpur and Shinmal, Tie & Die from Akola, Brass Nakkashi-Balahedi and Forest Products from Barna” She added
“With 14.8 lakh foreign tourists and 283 lakh domestic tourist arrivals in year 2008 Rajasthan is easily one of the most sought-after tourist destinations in India. The State’s popularity is primarily owing to its incredible tourism products: its rich heritage, its forts, palaces, lakes, colourful and lively fairs and festivals, golden sand dunes and rich wild life, add to that the adventure sports, wellness tourism, handicrafts, shopping, among other pullers.” Ms Sharma said .
The other attractions, of course, are the world acclaimed heritage hotels, luxury trains, most favoured locales & landscapes for film shottings and world-famous cities like Jaipur, Jaisalmer,
