A three- month old baby boy was mauled by two dogs while his grandma was fast asleep near the baby past midnight in Wales, United Kingdom. The baby was likewise asleep in a basket on a dining room table when two dogs attacked him.
Mail Online: The baby boy mauled to death by two dogs at his grandmother’s house had been lying on the dining room table when pets snatched him, an inquest hears today.
Three-month old Jaden Joseph Mack was killed when a Staffordshire bull terrier and a Jack Russell attacked him while in the care of his grandmother Denise Wilson.
The boy suffered serious injuries and was taken to Prince of Wales Hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after midnight on Saturday.
Post mortem findings indicated that the boy died from injuries inflicted by the dogs which were later destroyed.
The boy’s family has urged others to learn from the tragedy. They said: ‘ We would like to stress to all families with young children and pet dogs that no matter how much trust you have in your dog , something like this is always possible’.
Kennel club statistics indicate that Staffordshire bull terriers are the sixth most popular dog breed in UK. They are known to be peaceful and friendly family dogs. But just like other known friendly family dogs, they can sometimes be temperamental especially if they are constantly tied and seldom brought out for a walk.
Other dog breeds including Jack Russell that fall under companion dogs are usually friendly and loyal dogs but dog breeds, including those that fall under guard dog categories can be temperamental for various reasons including improper treatment of their masters. In the case of Jack Russell dogs, they are large kind of dog breeds and known for their high energy. They need to be brought outdoors more often and cared for by their masters.
It is possible that the dogs that attacked the boy have not been cared for properly by their masters which may have caused their being temperamental at the time of the incident.
