JAMMU, Apr 27: Channi Himmat Police today booked two lecturers of Govt Higher Secondary School, Channi for allegedly trying to outrage the modesty of a girl student of class 12th of the same school here today.
The teachers, who brought bad name to the ‘Guru-Pupil’ relation and defamed the school, are absconding after the incident. The police parties under the supervision of SP South were conducting series of raids to trace and arrest them. They have been identified as Chander Shekhar Lecturer IT and Madan Gopal, Lecturer Physics. While Madan called the girl and asked her to meet him in the School Lab, Shekhar tried to sexually abuse the girl when the other was out.
The incident sent shock waves in the school and the entire area. The agitated girls of the school raised hue and cry but the Principal, being more concerned about the reputation of her institution and career of the teachers, tried to hush up the case and influence the girls.
Talking to the Excelsior, the victim Rajni Katoch said that she appeared in her Physics paper on Saturday in the school. Her Physics teacher Madan Gopal told that her paper was not up to the mark and that he would help her to get through in exam. She said the teacher asked her to meet him in the school Lab on Monday. Ms Katoch supported by her brother further said that she went to school and her Physics teacher asked her to come to Lab. She said that both Physics and IT teachers came there and tried to influence her saying that they will help her to pass as her paper was not up to the mark. She said during conversation, Physics teacher went out and Shekher caught hold of her and tried to outrage her modesty. Rajni told that she resisted his advances and raised alarm and escaped after pushing him down.
The shell shocked girl in tears appeared before the school Principal and narrated her the story. She said the principal who sided with the teachers tried to convince and asked not to blow up the issue. The girl, a daughter of an Army officer, then went home and reported the matter to mother and other family members. She said that teachers then followed her on scooter in the lane and gave her the answer sheet influencing her not to blow up the issue and solve the paper at home and hand them over the next day as they will manage her 100 per cent success in Physics paper.
The parents lodged an FIR No. 40/2009 with the Channi Himmat Police station against the accused persons.
