The Uttarpradesh Government’s mega project ‘Taj Expressway’ crossed a legal hurdle with the dismissal of a Public Interest Litigation by the Allahabad High Court. The Order was passed against the petition filed by one Mr.Ashutosh Srivatsava by a division bench comprising of Chief Justice, H.K.Gokhee and Justice Vinit Sarn.
The petitioner had alleged that gross financial irregularities were committed by the State Government by appeasing a particular private company and prayed for declaring null and void the concession agreement entered between the Taj Expressway Authority and JP Industries. In addition, he had sought a CBI probe into the alleged irregularities.
Both the prayers of the petitioner were rejected by the Court. Earlier on the mandamus challenge of him for the production of the report of Commission of Enquiry headed by Justice (retd) Sidhesdhwar Narin and direction of the Court, the contents of the Report were produced before the Court by the State with a counter affidavit.
