Port-au-Prince, Haiti (GroundReport) – According to the the American Embassy in Haiti, the U.S. will help rebuild a key bridge that collapsed during this summer’s devastating floods, say published reports.
Embassy spokeswoman Mari Tolliver told reporters construction is due to begin later this year on the Ennery bridge leading to the hard-hit northern coastal city of Gonaives, reports The Associated Press.
The U.N. is also involved in the relief project, say reports.
Several tropical storms that struck Haiti in late August and early September destroyed roads, bridges and homes. And at least 793 people were killed, reports AP.
