ULAB Computer Programming Club, one of the most promising new born Club of University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh has organized a Fun Programming Contest at their Campus A in Dhanmondi on December 4th 2008.
The contest has been inaugurated by Professor Imran Rahman, Pro Vice Chancellor of ULAB. In his introductory speech he thanked the organizer club and the students of Department of Computer Science and Engineering for organizing this type of brilliant event to make the serious job of programming more accessible to the young even to the students of other departments of the university. He also emphasized on the importance of Liberal Arts Education System which make a student more dynamic to perform in various field at a time. Dr. H.M. Jahirul Haque, Deputy Director, Academic Affairs, DR. Syed Akhter Hossain, Head of the Department of CSE, Mr. Tamnun E. Mursalin, Associate Professor, Dept of CSE, Mr. Debashish Das, Lecturer, Dept of CSE, Ms. Nasrin Sultana, Lecturer, Dept of CSE, DR. Munim Kumar Barai, Associate Professor, Dept of BBA, Ms. Riaheen Farzana, Senior Lecturer, Dept of BBA was also present in the colorful event there. In this whole event, even the problem setting and the judge panel was also maintained by the students of Computer Science and Engineering Department. In the one hour long programming contest, the contestants were provided four critical problems to solve, based upon basic programming technique but requiring a good analytical ability.
Binary Fighters, representation the department of Media Studies and Journalism has got the honor of championship by solving 3 out of 4 where the first and second runner-up teams could manage to solve 2 out of 4 each.
The winning teams were awarded by exclusive prizes with a smart UCPC marked T-Shirt, sponsored by Alien Sound City for all the contestants. The Computer Programming Club has expressed their hope to organize more of this sort of programming contest in future to make programming an easy going matter for all and a matter of real interest.
