UFC 90: Silva Vs Cote: Results

On Saturday October 25, 2008 the UFC will presented UFC 90: Silva vs. Cote live from Chicago, Illinois. The night will featured one title fight in the Middleweight Division and some of the best contenders in other weight class fight for their title shot. This is one of the best pay per view put together by the UFC this year. In every fight there was at least one of the fighters and in most of them you know both. This night had a lot of exciting fights, surprise, and some let downs (not very many).

Silva vs. Cote

The Silva/Cote fight look to be one of the easiest fights that Silva has had since he arrived in the UFC. Patrick Cote had other things on his mind and became the first man in the UFC to push Anderson past the second round. Cote came out changing level pushing the fight and not allowing Silva to load up and land a strategy that seem to at least keep him in the match. Silva was landing shot occasionally and even land a head kick that would have knock out most other opponents, Cote was able to take it and keep pushing forward. Unfortunately the third round did not go well for Cote even though Silva did not land a shot. Cote went down with a leg injury ending the fight. Silva and Cote were both apologetic and promised a rematch later. Reports from UFC.com stat that Cote will be out 4-8 month with a meniscus injury. Silva improves to 23-4 and Cote falls to 14-5.

Josh Koscheck vs. Thiago Alves

This match was the top of the top contender in the welterweight division. Alves landed vicious kick all night and could not be stop. Koscheck who took the fight on less then a month notice after Diego Sanchez had to pull out due to injury kept pushing forward but was unable to do anything against the much larger Alves. Alves improves to 22-4 and Koscheck falls to 13-3 after the uniamous decision loss.

Sean Sherk Vs. Tyson Griffin

Sean Sherk came back to his winning ways after losing the title to BJ Penn. He controlled Griffin for majority of the three rounds to win a decision victory. This was a a classic Sherk fight but surprisingly Sherk showed off some of his stand up in the first round and looked pretty good. Sherk improved to 37-3-1 and Griffin went to 12-2.
