On Saturday November 15, 2008 the UFC will host what it is proclaiming their biggest fight every. The Hall of Famer and UFC Heavyweight of the world Randy “the Natural” Couture and former NCAA wrestling champ and former WWE champion Brock Lesner will meet. This is one of the most anticipated fights for fans of The UFC. Many fans want to see the return of Couture other want to see Lesner rise to the top or his fall. This event is not the strongest the UFC fight card the UFC has ever had. You may only be three or four of the other fighters you know.
Randy Couture Vs. Brock Lesnar
Randy “the Natural Couture” is the current heavyweight champion in the UFC. Randy is 16-8 in his profession MMA career and has been dominating win over Tim Sylvia and Gabriel Gonzaga since his return from retirement. However, like both those fight Randy will most likely be considered the underdog. Randy is now 44 years old and has not fought in over a year due to contract despites. His opponent Brock Lesner is only 2-1 as a mixed martial artist and has only lose was to a former UFC champion Frank Mir. Lesner last fight over Heath Herring was dominating but showed that Lesner has a long way to go. He seem to be lost when he took Herring back and had a lot of chance on finishing the fight but could not figure out how. This could be the end of Coutore and the rise of Lesner or vice versa but should be a great fight.
Thoughts on opponents (www.ufc.com)
“Thoughts on opponent, Randy Couture? It’s an honor to fight Randy Couture, he’s a legend in this sport, and to get the chance to test myself against him is a gift. A lot of guys would love to have this opportunity; Randy is the UFC heavyweight champion. There is one goal that I’ve had since I started training in MMA and that is to capture the title. Now that I’m getting the chance, nothing is going to stop me. I’m walking out of the Octagon with the belt around my waist.”
“Thoughts on upcoming opponent, Brock Lesnar? I have a lot of respect for Brock as an athlete and a collegiate wrestler, but I know exactly where he’s at, he’s trying to make the transition from a wrestler to mixed martial arts. I’ve been there, done that, and I know what the pitfalls are. This will be an interesting matchup, and it will be very nice to be home in the Octagon for this fight.”
Kenny Florian Vs. Joe Stevenson
Kenny”KenFlo” Florian (12-3)has been on a five fight winning streak since his lose so Sean Sherk in his title fight. Kenny is fighting to get another shot at the new champion BJ Peen. If he wins he should be in line for the next title fight or possibly a rematch with Sean Sherk and with a win a title shot. Kenny has to continue his winning way against Joe “Big Daddy” Stevenson. Joe Stevenson is 34-8 in professional mixed martial arts and has won 5 of his last 6 fights with his only lose coming from current champion BJ Penn. Stevenson is looking to knock off the another top contender to get his title shot
