UFC 94: St-Pierre vs. Penn

On January 31, 2009 live from the MGM Grand Garden Area in Los Vegas Nevada the UFC will feature historic match. The lightweight champion BJ Penn will challenge the welterweight champion George St Pierre for his title. Also, feature on the card is undefeated Lyoto Machida , fan favorite Stephan Bonnar, and Karo Parisysn.

Georges St
-Pierre Vs. BJ Penn

BJ “The Prodigy” Penn (14-4-1) will step in to face the man who beat him in a conversion decision victory in March 2006, George “Rush” St-Pierre. Penn will be making his first welterweight appearance in the UFC since 2006 when he lost to UFC legend Matt Hughes is attempting to recapture a title that he once held, become the first man to hold two championships at the same time, and get a little revenge for one of his losses. Penn has all the motivation in the world to win this match. St Pierre(17-2) has won his last 4 fights and may be looking to move up and challenge Andersen Silvia for the middleweight title once this match is done. This is going to be a classic match both these men are evenly match Penn is one of the best in Brazilian jujitsu in the world. Pierre who trains his wrestling with the Canadian Olympic team should be even on the ground. Pierre has excellent take down but Penn has one of the best take down defenses in the UFC. Penn’s only advantage may be a slight one in his hand while St-Pierre may have a huge conditioning advantage, depending which Penn shows up.

Lyoto Machida Vs. Thiago Silva

Lyoto “The Dragon” Machida (13-0) has one all five of his match in the UFC. Machida brings something you do not normally see in the UFC, Karate. If you watch his fight you will see Machida strike and as soon as an opponent start to counter back out. It may be boring but it frustrates must of his opponents and get Machida the win. Thiago Silva (13-0) will be making his fifth appearance in the UFC. He has only been to the second round once and has three TKO victories. This could be intresting. If Thiago is able to keep pressure on Lyoto, how will Lyoto react? If Thiago can’t impose his game can he adjust?
