Well, the referendum Crimea is performed. Its results were not long to come. They were announced the next morning. It seems no one had any doubt about them.
And how can there be any doubt if almost the entire territory of the Crimea for a week before the referendum held concerts in honor of entering into Russian Federation? Representatives of notary structures, law enforcement bodies and other institutions were warned that they should be getting ready to take qualification exams according to Russian legislation. Also promises to pay pensions and salaries in Russian rouble from April. It is nothing to say how a referendum was conducted. It is very clear that Ukraine has faced a well-planned Kremlin operation.
On March 18 despite the pressure of the international community, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, official note of protest to Russian side about annexation of the territory of Ukraine, Vladimir Putin has signed a document on including Crimea and Sevastopol into Russian Federation with representatives of “Crimean government”. Only some formalities left: examination of the issue by State Duma of Russian Federation, Constitutional Court etc. It is not necessary to be highly specialized political scientist, analytic or prophet to foresee their decision.
Well, what will happen next? What events will follow?
One would assume that the main task of Kremlin was the acquisition of control over the peninsula. But is it so? In his statement on March 18 Putin mentioned that after the WWII the whole southeastern region of contemporary Ukraine was unfairly annexed from Russia.
From this we can conclude that Russian appetites can spread onto other regions of Ukraine. In Donetsk, Lugansk and Kharkiv regions events could develop according to Crimean scenario. It will be of no surprise if they suffer the Crimean fate. Today we see the first signs of the mentioned above – these are pro-russian rallies with aggressive youngsters burning down Ukrainian flags,self-proclaimed governors-separatists and demands of referendum. It is very likely that Russia wants to gain control over Black Sea coast of Ukraine. Separatists are aggravating the situation in Mykolayiv and Odessa regions. The same turn of events could happen in Kherson region. Ukraine risks to lose more of its territory.
Maybe present-day Kremlin dictator, who has chosen to follow the path of Adolf Hitler, plans to get control over Kiev and central regions of the country? Maybe all the actions undertaken by Russian Federation is only preparation for blitzkrieg on Kiev?
He clearly declares that he is not going to recognize acting government of Ukraine. He calls ita fascist one. In his words hundreds of people that could not stand despotism of racketeer clan any longer and organized Maıdan are “nazi” and “militants”. If you look deeper into Maidan you would see children, young people and pensioners, who could hardly be called “nazi” or “militants” threatening Russian population.
Considering the power of Maıdan Putin surely thinks that the same can happen in Russia as he clearly understand show many people of his country are completely unsatisfied with his policy. Now Russia can attempt to use people on Kiev Maıdan to its advantage.
That is how it could happen. By special provokers the situation in Ukrainian capital can be “stirred up”. The key factor can be effort to discredit the government and authorities. Tension in Kiev is playing into Kremlins hands. Putin understands that if meetings begin again they won’t be of peaceful character. Radicalized minds would be heated up with the “right” slogans of pro-russian instigators. Kremlin can do everything to make people think that their leaders betrayed them. The consequences of that can be catastrophic.
International community must understand that right now Russia destroys all structure of international law and system of international commitments that were lined up after the Second World War. Actions of Russian Federation can undermine the authority of international organizations, especially United Nations, which is called to control observance of international law and to preserve peace in the World. If to let the situation slide, as it actually happened in 2008 and not to employ serious sanctions against Russia, who knows what would be the next step of Putin on the way to world domination? It is much possible that soon he would state that by selling of Alaska to USA in the 19th century Alexander II also robbed Russian Federation. Or maybe the next ones in Russian queue are Baltics, Finland and Moldova? Who knows?
