British Government’s reputation for data security was dealt another blow yesterday when the Ministry of Defence admitted that many more laptops and USB memory sticks had gone missing than previously reported.
British Authorities admitted that Military Secrets stored in around 700 Laptops have gone missing in the last four years.
The embarrassing new details were disclosed by ministers in response to questions tabled in Parliament.
The Military Officials also admitted that Hethrew Airport attacks also been happened with those secrets only.
The Ministry of Defence (MOD)informed parliament that 131 of the department’s portable USB momory sticks had been taken or misplaced since 2004. Of the 26 small storage devices missing this year.
A Higher Official belonged to National Security of UK told the reporters that 347 laptops had confessed to be stolen initially but the number raised to 700 after complete reporting.
Sensitive data is stored carelessly with the MoD’s information which is the most important one for the National Security.
On Saturday, MOD admits that 3 laptops were missing with information classified as Secret, 19 carried restricted data which is very important.
