The recently concluded United Nations General Assembly Meetings held last September in New York, has repeatedly shown its purpose – to kowtow to the bullying attitude of China. The UN which was the primary sponsor of peace, equality, freedom and democracy stooped and meekly allow China to dictate or bully the international institution every time Taiwan apply for UN membership.
The independent nation of Taiwan has suffered long enough not only from China but from the United Nations itself. Taiwan was yanked out of its UN membership because the UN wants to protect its interests to the detriment of the Taiwanese people. The UN is also silent about other international issues like the Tibetan independence, Spratly Islands, the Sabah issue, the divided Papuan country, the Korea, Japan border issue, the Russia, Japan contested islands, the Irish Nation and many more.
Obviously, the United Nations is a hostage of its own doing from the time colonization, wars and conflicts dominated the earth. The Europeans are solely to blame for all the animosities that pervaded for centuries. They unnecessarily partitioned the countries that they colonized. The Filipino people are still vivid in their memories that Sabah is part of the Philippines. Our Muslim brothers most especially the Tausugs were removed from their own territory by the British when they ceded Sabah to Malaysia. That is one example of injustice committed during the time of colonization. There will be no real understanding among nations until all the wrongs of history will be corrected, by the UN itself.
