UNDP Team and Norwgian Embassy first secretary visiting Chitral.

CHITRAL: United Nation Development Program (UNDP) Team along with Royal Norwegian Embassy envoy visiting different ongoing schemes at Chitral which were funded by Norwegian government and their public , UNDP through Hashoo Foundation Chitral. On their arrival they were warmly welcomed by local people and were briefed by Manager Shamsuddin at Hashoo foundation office Balach regarding their training for youth on Hotel management, waiter, receptionist, and other programs funded by UNDP. He said that Hashoo foundation working on different training of skill development to enhance capacity of youth and to enable them for gaining their livelihood with a honor way. The team comprising over Ignacio Artaza country director, Amanullah Khan Assistant country Director, Muhi Usamah Disaster Risk Management specialist, Shuja Hakim communications officer of UNDP along with Naufil Naseer program Advisor Norway Embassy, Tom Jorgen fist secretary Development of Norway Embassy. They were briefed about the schemes funded by Norway and UNDP.
They visited Balach girls primary school where the local community briefed them about their village organization and how they participate in different developmental and rehabilitation works of the area with the financial support of UNDP through HF. On their arrival they were warmly welcomed by local people and they thanked them for their aids and support for rehabilitation after disasters in the area.
Ignacio Artaza shared his views with local community regarding UNDP funded programs for enhancement of backward areas and raising awareness among the people. He said that their organization always helping needy people in each and every circumstances of natural calamity and he stressed upon the local people to must be united for achieving their target of development and redresses of any issue.
The UNDP team also held a meeting with local media person sharing some views about Chitral after critical situation of tremendous flood and heavy earthquake and he also hailed role of media for highlighting these issues through their respective channels and papers. He said that UNDP working on soft schemes like training to youth for employment and their capacity building.
The team visited Zargarandeh area which had been badly hit by flash flood last year and damaged so many houses and cultivable land. Protection wall of different villages are under construction through Hashoo Foundation by UNDP fund. They also visited Ochosht village where 13 people had been died in tremendous flood of 2012. The local community including Nazimeen, Councilors, chairmen and presidents of village councils highly appreciated UNDP and Norway government and public for their support in term of rehabilitation and protection of the scenic valley from damages of flood by construction of check dams and protection wall etc.
