While the process of the US presidential election proceeds towards November, economic issues are getting highlighted. One of the latest ingredients for the political competitors to adopt as their major agenda has been the unemployment issue.
According to the International Herald Tribune published today, the unemployment rate in the US has climbed up to 6.1 percent in August. This is considered the highest since 2003. As this unemployment rate deserves a special consideration within the policymaking framework, this has become a foreground political agenda.
The reported data of lost jobs is 605,000 jobs lost within a year. This shows a trend of market economy founded on individualistic approaches. This data has been considered serious though the unemployment statistics belong to other informal and alternative sources have not been mainstreamed.
On the issue of unemployment rise in the US, Republican Presidential candidate John McCain states, “Washington has failed to act" to improve the poor economy.
"Today’s jobs report is a reminder of what’s at stake in this election," remarks another Presidential candidate representing the Democratic Party Obama said in his statement.
