Political stunts are hardly now digestible to educated
masses. Government has failed to provide economic empowerment to masses in
J& K state. Government jobs to one and all are not possible. The
agriculture sectors, biggest possible economic relent, is almost in shambles as
farmers can’t even produce for their own feeding for complete year. Then only
sources of income to people in state depend upon tourism and industries. But
due to unrest in valley for the more than last two decades has faded tourism
sector. The only hope with educated unemployed youth in state lies with
industrial sector, which is in instable situation.
Government Industries have almost closed and a few running
are facing hardships and employees are in dilemmatic position. Several retired
employees had not even got their dues entitled for more than ten years. But
government is spending huge amount in the name of Industries department every
year. Looking at private industrial sector, things are not good as dearth of electricity,
skilled workers and other formalities are irritating the owners running
industrial units. Government in its plans thinks bigger and broader to boost
industrial sector but fails to provide basic facilities to industrialists
besides impose burdening taxes upon them.
“Making stable industry is mandatory. Restoration of
incentives is long pending genuine demand which state as well as centre
government should try to solve” fourth time elected Bari Brahmana Industries
Association (BBIA) President Anil Suri said. He added that all long pending
demands would be discussed with the government to transfer industries in a
position so that lots of unemployed youth may get jobs.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah have expressed hope that
private sector will emerge from economic crisis caused due unrest. Statement
has developed hope among the business community that efforts would be made to
compensate losses met to industrialists and traders’ community is to be taken
possibly. MLA Yashpaul Kundal demanded that in the government industries, 90
percent employees should be from state and 10 percent employees from other
state. MLA said that workers of government industries were facing a lot of
problems because the contract system is running in the industries as a result;
the workers are not satisfied with this system. He threatened agitation if
demands were not fulfilled.
It is pertinent to mention that as per government circular
in the industry sector 70 percent of employees should be from the soil and 30
per cent can be from out side the state. Keeping in view that in the state
number of skilled workers is less the order was formulated. When and if
industries are not stable and not even in a position so that it could run to
earn livelihood for its owners how come is this possible that new aspirants
could get jobs.
