An exclusive, Interactive Session production houses and studios was organized by the Society of Animation in Delhi for animation on 26th May Saturday at Civil Members Institute, KC Marg, at New Delhi. The motive of this innovatively based get together was to raise awareness towards the concerns involved in the growth of the present status of Animation in India. In brief, the idea was to sort out the main characteristics that play a dent in forming of the ‘Animation Ecosystem’.
This first-ever meets-up outlined a very large number of missing links in this animation ecosystem. Standards and quality certification, information sharing system, skill replenishment, hardware and software support, Government and institutional support, medical, health and social security for animators, distribution channels and mechanism, reaching mature viewership, a system of rewards and recognition, and the all-evasive income and investment generation, were among the major imbalances facing animation production.
The Production houses also raised up their concerns and difficulties they face while in productions and marketing. A total of 37 participants, representing 13 production houses / studios, 14 members and 2 special invitees / observers attended. IQON Animation, Fulltoon Animation, Purple Haze, Axon 3D, Varun Mehta Productions, Genesis Media, Cartesian Arts, Smriti Arts, 2020 Social, Voice & Motion Communications, Moonwalk Designs, and Kimba Info Technologies were among the studios present. Representatives of IL&FS attended as special invitees and observers.
While Kala Iyer, Secretary and eminent film-maker, welcomed the gathering, Madan Pania, President, delivered the presentation, and Ranjan Singh, Vice-President, represented the Voice of SAID. Vinay Ajmani, Treasurer delivered a hearty vote of thanks.
