United States impressed with Malawi’s child Trafficking efforts

The American Ambassador to Malawi Allan Eastman  said at a child trafficking workshop Malawi has made efforts in combating child trafficking as evidenced by being placed on Tier 1.

Malawi, a country in Southern Africa, was much known for child trafficking. Some children were trafficked as far as Europe.

According to the ratings, tier 1 is given to a country which is making a good effort in fighting child trafficking.

The American Ambassador said collaboration with international organisations to investigate cross border crime and arrest the situation has helped to contribute to Malawi’s success.

He applauded Malawi for its vigorous anti trafficking law efforts saying it has helped in fighting child trafficking.

The Ambassador pledged support to help the country fight child trafficking through training and other means.

The government of Malawi has also made efforts to crack down child labour within the country through Ministry of Labour and international organisations like World Labour Organisation and UNICEF.

Child trafficking is rampant in most countries of the world, particularly Africa.

Children and women are enticed that they would get goods jobs in Europe but end up in prostitution.
