RICHMOND, Va. — University of Delaware sophomore Ilana Schnaufer has been named to the 2014 Colonial Athletic Association Women’s Cross Country All-Academic Team, the league announced Wednesday.
Schnaufer was one of nine student-athletes selected to the all-academic squad, which is comprised of one student-athlete from each school selected by her head coach as the team’s highest performing student.
Schnaufer, an environmental science major from Rochester, N.Y. (Penfield HS), is a two-time member of the CAA Academic Honor Roll. She appeared in five races during the 2014 season and recorded season-best finishes of 13th place at the Delaware Invitational and an 18th place showing at the Towson Invitational. She also competed at the CAA Championships in November at Northeastern and finished 62nd overall.
William & Mary’s Carolyn Hennessy was named the CAA Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Year while teammate Regan Rome was named CAA Rookie of the Year and Tribe head coach Natalie Hall was selected as CAA Coach of the Year.
Also named to the All-CAA team were Elyse Bierut, Jenny Gallagher, Kimberly Johansen, and Teresa Novotna of Elon, Dylan Hassett, Hennessy, Meghan McGovern, and Rome of William & Mary, James Madison’s Tessa Mundell and Kathleen Stewart, and Northeastern’s Jordan O’Dea and Lucy Young.
Joining Schnaufer on the CAA All-Academic Team were Bierut of Elon, Stewart of James Madison, Young of Northeastern, Cara Butcher of Charleston, Becky Celorio of Hofstra, Sarah Goodnight of UNCW, Ashley Simmons of Towson, and Emily Stites of William & Mary.
