University of Jammu to hold 14th Convocation on September 1

Jammu August 29, (Scoop News)- Prof. M. P.S. Ishar, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu while addressing the media persons in a Curtain Raiser press conference said that the University of Jammu is holding its 14th Convocation on September 01, 2014 after a gap of seven years. The President of India Pranab Mukherjee has consented to be the Chief Guest on the event.
He said N. N. Vohra, Governor of J&K State and Chancellor, University of Jammu shall preside over the convocation and Omar Abdullah, Chief Minister of J&K and Pro-Chancellor, University of Jammu will be the Guest of Honour.
Flanked by Prof. M. K. Dhar, Registrar, Prof. Keshav Sharma, Controller of Examinations and Prof. Desh Bandhu Gupta, Director, DCD, Prof. Ishar further said that the University is fully prepared to hold the Convocation. In total 67 candidates who completed their Doctorate Degree in the year 2013 in seven faculties shall be awarded Ph. D. Degrees and 68 candidates shall be awarded with University Gold Medal, Cash awards and medals created out of endowment, informed Prof. Ishar.
Prof. Ishar further added that the University isl organizing a Special Convocation on September 16, 2014 in which the Ph.D Degrees and the Gold Medals shall be awarded to candidates from Session 2006 to 2012. While responding to a query, Prof. Ishar briefed that all the heads of departments and other university officials have been involved in various roles and capacities in organizing the convocation.
He also acknowledged the support of the State Government Departments and other security and administrative agencies in facilitating the scheduled convocation.
Earlier Prof. Neelu Rohmetra, Convener, Committee for Press and Publicity, 14th Convocation welcomed the guests and gave an overview of the event.
Among others present were Prof. Neelam Saraf, Dean Academic Affairs, Prof. V. D. Singh, Director, DDE, Prof. Pankaj K. Srivastava, Dean Students Welfare, Prof. Jasbir Singh, Provost Hostels, Dr. Sanjay Sharma, Administrator, GZSAC, Jai Kumar Sharma, Special Secretary to Vice Chancellor, Sanjeev Mahajan, Jt. Registrar Examinations, Dr. Jitender Khajuria, Jt. Registrar, Finance, Neeraj Sharma, OSD, CDC, Dr. Dharminder Magotra, Deputy Registrar and members of the Committee for Press and Publicity.
