<p>Wall Street closed off their worst levels, after taking a beating in early trade on the last day of the trading week. The Dow closes 0.23 percent lower, the NASDAQ is down about half a percent, while the S&P index moved up slightly up by 0.04 percent.</p>
<p> Even after central banks infused $$ into money market – the European Central Bank for a second day – to alleviate credit pressures, concerns continue to rise as to the risk of subprime-related contagion to European investment banks.</p>
<p>Even the Bank of Japan injected liquidity into its system and so did the Australian Reserve Bank, with Macquarie Bank taking a hit from lending woes. This seems to suggest that problems emanating from the U.S. subprime sector has spread wider to other global money markets. This is the first time since the 9/11 attacks that global central banks have pumped money intot the financial system.</p>
