Unwanted local traditions are the main obstacle in women Rights and need to be addressed,

 

 

CHITRAL 1 May: Legal Awareness Program for Human Rights (LAPH) organized one day school campaigns in Gramchasma in order sanitize the local  community especially among the youth & women folk regarding their rights of Inheritance and marriage.
Chairman Legal Awareness Program for Human Right (LAPH) Mr. Niaz Ali Shah shared the activities, aim and objectives of LAPH and the objectives of the campaign with the participants. He said that Right of Inheritance and Right of marriage are the basic rights of women given to them by Islam and due to unwanted traditions women of the area are deprived from their basic rights.
Ms Sifat Gul, Co Chairperson of HRMC Gramchasma highlighted the core Problems of the women of the area and she said that vocational skills are the best option for the economic empowerment of the marginalized women of the area. She thanked to LAPH for working in the area for women empowerment. She also told that empowerment and participation of women is need of the day and without this we cannot compete with other nations in sustainable development.
While speaking on the occasion Ms.Farhana, a member of HRMC Gramchasma told that women of the area are facing numerous problems, they have no rights to decide their life partner, even they cannot buy a cloth for their own wish. She appreciated the efforts of LAPH and suggested for continuation of awareness raising seminars on the title at remote localities of Chitral and conducting such type of fruitful workshop for parents to sensitize them about their children rights and eradicating of discriminations among daughters and sons.
 The participants assured that they will impart and communicate theses information and message to other especially it will be shared with women and youth.
Ms. Amina Social Organizer, LAPH elaborated the Working mechanism of HRMCs and shared the concept and need of the formation of Youth forum in the area. The campaign was facilitated by Human rights monitoring committee (HRMC) Gramchasma for students on the theme of Right of inheritance and Right of marriage.
A large number of students, teachers and elders of the area attended the event. Main objectives of the workshop were creating of awareness among the students and teachers about human rights and especially of women rights.
The participants and elders of the area thanked LAPH management for organizing this campaign in their area for sensitizing students and teachers about their rights.
