Urdu Academy organizes grand Urdu conference at Srinagar

         Srinagar, October 16 (Scoop News) –     Jammu & Kashmir Urdu Academy today organized a function to discuss the issues for the promotion of Urdu language in the state.

            Legislators,  M. Y. Taing,  Jehangir Mir, Vice-chancellor, Kashmir University Prof. Talat Ahmad,Director Information Kh. Renzushah, Noor Shah, Javid Matji, Kachoo Asfandyar Khan, Prof. S. Fayaz, Prof. Mohammad Zaman Azurda, Hasrat Gadda, Dr. Mohammad Shafi Maheengar, Sultan-ul-Haq Shahidi, Prof. Shabir Ahmad, Prof. Nasir Mirza, Nasreen Naqash besides a galaxy of poets, writers, novelists and short story writers attended the function.

             “Dam-e-Khayal” of Kachoo Asfandyar Khan, “Pamposh” of Deepak Kanwal, “Tanaziya Kashmir Tehreekh ke Aiyane Mein” of Maqbool Sahil, “Ahsaas” of Rashid Rahgir and “Lamehe Andherun Ke” of Sheikh Gulzar Ahmad were released on the occasion.

            While addressing the function the speakers stressed for establishment of Urdu University and Urdu Academy in the state in view of the fact that Urdu is the official language of the Jammu and Kashmir State. They appealed J&K High Court authorities to revive the practice of receiving applications in Urdu language. They further reminded of the importance of Urdu language and said that the language belongs to Mirza Asadullah Khan Ghalib, Firak Gorakhpuri and many other prominent poets of the country.

            However the speakers expressed their satisfaction over the steps being taken by the government in promotion of the language and also in full filling its promises.
