Srinagar, October 05 (Scoop News) –Arrangements for the week-long annual Urs of Hazrat Sheikh Noor-ud-Din Wali (RA), commencing from October 12 this month at Chrar-i-Sharief, were finalized today at a high level meeting, chaired by the Minister for Finance and Ladakh Affairs Abdul Rahim Rather.
It was informed that Poshak Bandi of the mausoleum would be performed on October 12, Friday at 10 a.m. A prayers congregation and reciting of Quranic verses and Darood-Azkar would be held throughout the night of October 13.
Several decisions were taken for providing adequate facilities to the pilgrims during the Urs days while reviewing the arrangements department-wise.
Rather directed the engineers of Public Health Engineering department to ensure uninterrupted water supply in the town besides setting up of about one hundred temporary wash rooms for ablution of the pilgrims. He directed to keep water tankers also available during the Urs days. The Power Development Department will ensure round the clock uninterrupted power supply in the Shrine and the town whereas the tourism department will make functional about 50 streetlights at various places of the town within two days.
The Traffic Department was directed to formulate a foolproof Traffic Management Plan to provide to and fro availability of vehicles to the pilgrims and to regulate the traffic movement to check traffic jams during the week.
The Minister directed the ARTO, Budgam to coordinate with RTO, Kashmir and ARTO Pulwama in this regard. He said that additional parking bays should be arranged for vehicles. The Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution department was directed to arrange adequate supply of additional quota of rice, sugar and kerosene oil besides facilitating supply of cooking gas. The Executive Officer, Municipal Committee was directed to ensure cleanliness in the shrine complex and its surroundings. The Health Department was directed to set up medical camps enroute the shrine.
Rather asked the District Development Commissioner, Budgam, Khusheed Ahmad to set up a control room for monitoring the arrangements in Deputy Commissioner’s office during the Urs days. The Tehsildar, Chrar-i-Sharief, Ali Mohammad was nominated as Nodal officer to coordinate and monitor activities of different departments during Urs days.
Rather asked the District Development Commissioner Budgam to send a joint team of officers and engineers to Chrar-i-Sharief for on the spot assessment of the arrangements.
The Vice Chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Wakaf Board, M. Y. Qadri informed that rust proof Gold Plated Tomb (Kalash) costing Rs 12 lakh for the newly constructed Khankah mosque would be prepared within a fortnight. The Kalash will be prepared by the Zarkob of a Mumbai based firm M/S Gold Leaf Company and the amount incurred on it includes cost of 300 grams of 24 carat gold.
The meeting was attended by the District Development Commissioner, Budgam, Khurshed Ahmad Shah, Vice Chairman J&K Waqaf Board, M. Y. Qadri, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Budgam Mohammad Akbar, Chief Engineer R&B Kashmir Mushtaq Ahmed, Executive Engineer R&B Chadoora, Showkat Ahmad, Project Officer, Chrar-i-Sharief, Bashir Ahmad and concerned officers of various departments.
