US Army’s elite 1st Calvary Division’s “Black Jack” Brigade readies for deployment to Korea

A gunner with the “Black Knights,” 1st Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division – United States Army.

“And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.” Rev 6:8

– King James Bible “Authorized Version”, Cambridge Edition

The secretary of defense today approved the deactivation of the 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division in South Korea.
*Approximately 4,600 soldiers from 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division stationed at Fort Hood, Texas are scheduled to replace the deactivating brigade in June 2015. “This is a routine rotation of forces”, according to a Pentagon official who refused to be named in this report. I however would beg to differ – The “Blackjacks”  are one of the best fighting units in the entire US Army.

Headquartered in South Korea since July 1965, 1st Armored Brigade has played an integral role in the defense of the Korean peninsula. The unit trained and worked alongside its South Korean partners to deter military aggression.

* Note: The 2d Brigade Combat Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division (the “Black Jack Brigade”) is a cavalry unit of the United States Army based in Fort Hood, Texas. The mission of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, “Blackjack,” is to, on order, deploy to any theater, execute operations, redeploy, and prepare for future operations.
